Grand Highlander
The newest member of Toyota’s SUV family, the 2026 Grand Highlander, continues to meet the bar as a capable people mover with ample amenities for comfort, convenience, safety, and connectivity. With seats for up to eight, 20.6 cubic feet of cargo space when fully occupied (57.9 cubic feet behind the second row), and a 5,000-pound tow limit, the Grand Highlander meets the needs of big families, weekend warriors with a lot of gear, and everyone in between. Plus, this mid-sized SUV can be as utilitarian or luxurious as needed, with a variety of trim levels to serve different budgets. The base LE’s cloth bench seats and seven USB ports make it a practical choice, while the top-of-the-line Platinum reaches luxury territory with a panoramic moonroof and heated/ventilated seats in the first two rows. That being said, even the lower trims provide sought-after amenities like a programmable power liftgate and tri-zone climate control, so drivers need not choose between function and convenience.
Like all 2026 Toyotas, the Grand Highlander includes ToyotaCare’s no-cost maintenance plan, covering regular factory-scheduled maintenance (multipoint inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes) for two years or 25,000 miles, plus two years of 24-hour roadside assistance with no mileage cap. Note that this page covers just the traditional gas-only Grand Highlander; the Grand Highlander Hybrid receives its own page.

The 2026 Grand Highlander has four trim levels to choose from: LE, XLE, Limited, and Platinum. The powertrain pairs a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine (output: 265 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque) to an 8-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, with paddle shifters on the Platinum. The three lower trims come with front-wheel drive (FWD), with an option to upgrade to dynamic torque control all-wheel drive (AWD). The Platinum gets standard AWD.
The Grand Highlander achieves good fuel economy, with the LE, XLE, and Limited rated for an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway with FWD. With AWD, the LE and XLE achieve 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, while the Limited and Platinum drop slightly to 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. The Grand Highlander’s default drive-mode selector comes with Sport, Eco, Normal, and Snow settings, joined in the Platinum by a multi-terrain selector (with Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt, and Normal modes). AWD Grand Highlanders add downhill assist control. All trims have independent MacPherson front struts and a multi-link rear suspension with a stabilizer bar. With trailer brakes, the towing limit is 5,000 pounds.
