The Prius stands for efficiency, and Toyota’s iconic hybrid continues to outdo itself with even better fuel economy for the 2027 model year. The LE still leads the lineup, returning an eye-opening 59 city mpg with the standard single-motor front-wheel drive and 56 city mpg with the available dual-motor all-wheel drive system (that’s up from 57 and 53 mpg, respectively, with the 2026 model). The rest of the Prius family, which previously achieved 52 city mpg with FWD, can now achieve 54 mpg, while the AWD version improves from 49 city mpg to 51 mpg.
Aside from that, Toyota now includes dual-zone automatic climate control across the lineup and has renamed the Nightshade Edition as the Nightshade for 2027. This dark-appearance trim still comes with its signature blackout badging and accents, dark upholstery, and carbon-fiber interior trim, and remains the only trim eligible for gold-tone Karashi paint. Elsewhere in the color palette, Inked replaces Midnight Black Metallic, while on the interior all trims except the base LE swap Gradient Black upholstery for plain black.
