Corolla Cross
The Corolla Cross has only been in the United States market since model year 2022, but Toyota has already given it its first update. The 2026 edition has been refreshed outwardly, with a new grille in a geometric pattern dominating the front end. The interior changes include a larger infotainment screen at 10.5 inches for the XLE and a more user-friendly design for the center console that builds in additional storage space.
Built in Alabama, the Corolla Cross provides the attributes that today’s small-crossover buyer is looking for to provide economical and efficient transportation with plenty of amenities and the brand’s legendary longevity. It handles like a car, yet it’s more useful for carrying goods, thanks to an easy-access cargo hatch measuring 24 cubic feet (21.5 cubic feet with AWD). The Corolla Cross comes with two years/25K miles of ToyotaCare scheduled maintenance and two years (with unlimited miles) of roadside assistance. There’s also a gas-electric version, the Corolla Cross Hybrid, which we cover in a separate overview.

Corolla Cross buyers can choose from three grades for 2026: the L, LE, and XLE. Their 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine puts out 169 horsepower and forms the powertrain with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive (FWD) is the default, but every trim is eligible for the optional all-wheel drive (AWD).
Fuel economy is great, with the FWD version returning 31 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg on the highway, as estimated by the EPA. With AWD, those numbers change to 29 city/31 highway. With either drivetrain, the ’26 Corolla Cross can tow up to 1,500 pounds.
Standard Amenities by Trim Grade
The base L is appointed with a mix of features that includes cloth upholstery, auto-on/off Bi-LED headlights, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, heated power-adjustable exterior mirrors, intermittent windshield wipers, a pair of USB ports, rear HVAC vents, and 17-inch steel wheels with covers. The LE adds wireless device charging, two more USB ports, proximity keyless entry, variable intermittent wipers (windshield and rear window), black-finished roof rails, automatic cabin temperature control, push-button ignition, heated power-adjustable exterior mirrors with built-in turn indicators, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear privacy glass, sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. When this trim has AWD, it’s eligible for the Cold Weather Package (heated steering wheel and heated front seats). The LE Moonroof Package will add a moonroof and cargo cover.
The lineup-topping XLE adds comfort with heated front seats, SofTex (simulated leather) upholstery, two zones of automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, and a rear folding armrest. It also gets upgraded Bi-LED headlights and LED combination taillights, LED fog lights, ambient cabin lighting, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shifter cover, a sliding cargo cover, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The AWD version gets a heated steering wheel. The optional XLE Convenience Package furnishes a moonroof and a power liftgate.
Safety Tech
All trims have Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 installed. This driver-assist bundle consists of adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, and road sign assist. The two higher trims also have a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist; only the XLE gets front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. All three trims have nine airbags installed, along with stability and traction control, hill start assist, Smart Stop Technology (to minimize unintended acceleration), and a backup camera (with dynamic guidelines on the XLE).
Connectivity Features
The default infotainment system (in the L and LE) is housed in an 8-inch touchscreen; the XLE has been upgraded to a 10.5-inch screen as part of the 2026 refresh (it’s optional for the LE). Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are found on all trims, along with Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming and SiriusXM satellite radio. Every trim is also set up for access to a Wi-Fi hotspot, Cloud Navigation, and Toyota connected services. The basic sound system can be upgraded in the XLE to a JBL branded unit with nine speakers.
