The Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) blends the efficiency of a traditional gas-electric hybrid with the convenience of driving on electricity alone for shorter trips, such as errands and brief commutes. Its efficient powertrain provides up to 51 miles of EPA-estimated all-electric range before seamlessly switching to traditional hybrid operation for extended jaunts. It also comes in slightly above the regular Prius in power output, adding a handful of extra horses. Toyota has improved the Prius PHEV for model year 2027 by making dual-zone automatic climate control standard across the lineup.
