2026 Toyota Sequoia Hero

Toyota has given its flagship SUV, the Sequoia, some targeted updates for 2026 that improve its comfort, convenience, and safety. Built alongside the Tundra pickup in Texas, this three-row utility vehicle has a spacious interior that’s now complemented by leather-upholstered seats in the Limited trim and premium leather upholstery in the top-of-the-line Capstone. Besides that, every Sequoia grade now comes with a power-folding third row, while the higher trims receive massaging front seats. Another new feature for 2026 is a rear seat reminder feature that’s found across the lineup.

Buyers of the 2026 Sequoia also get ToyotaCare, which includes complimentary standard scheduled maintenance and two years or 25,000 miles of 24-hour roadside assistance. Toyota expands on the Sequoia’s factory warranty by also protecting the hybrid components for eight years or 100,000 miles. Protection for the hybrid battery lasts ten years or 150,000 miles.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2026 Sequoia lineup spans six grades: the SR5, the Limited, the Platinum, the 1794 Edition, the TRD Pro, and the Capstone. Every edition is built around Toyota’s i-FORCE MAX hybrid system: a twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor integrated into the ten-speed automatic transmission unit. Output is rated at 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. The SR5 and the Limited can be configured with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or available part-time four-wheel drive (4WD), while part-time 4WD is standard on the 1794 Edition, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

A sliding third row helps tailor the Sequoia’s rear load area from 11.5 to 22.3 cubic feet. Folding the third row opens up 49.0 cubic feet, and dropping both rear rows creates 86.9 cubic feet of cargo space. When the vehicle is properly equipped, its maximum towing capacity ranges from 8,980 to 9,310 pounds, depending on the trim and drivetrain. RWD Sequoias are EPA-rated for 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, and four-wheel-drive versions achieve 19 mpg around town and 22 mpg on the open road. In low-speed situations (under 18 mph), the hybrid hardware can propel the Sequoia on electric power alone.

Standard Features and Options

The eight-passenger SR5 includes a wide range of standard features: a power moonroof, heated front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver’s seat, power-folding third-row seats, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a configurable 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a digital rearview mirror, and fabric upholstery. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated power mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED cabin lighting, a Class-IV hitch receiver and wiring harness, USB ports, and an 18-inch alloy wheel package round out the essentials. SR5 buyers can select the available TRD Off-Road Package on the 4WD edition, which adds an enhanced suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers, underbody protection, a terrain management system, electronically controlled locking rear differential, and unique design accents. The optional SR5 Premium Package adds SofTex leatherette, a hands-free liftgate, a 400W/120V rear-cabin and cargo-area AC power supply, and an infotainment upgrade (detailed below).

As mentioned, the Limited gains leather-trimmed upholstery for 2026. It also has heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, driver’s-side memory, trim-specific exterior accents, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The options for the Limited include a panoramic power moonroof, the TRD Off-Road Package, and second-row captain’s chairs (for seven-passenger seating). The Platinum shifts to a seven-passenger layout with second-row captain’s chairs and adds massaging front seats with ten-way power controls, heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, ambient cabin lighting, a panoramic moonroof, and wireless device charging. Its available amenities extend to the TRD Off-Road Package with 20-inch all-terrain tires, a rear air suspension with load-leveling, a head-up display, and power running boards.

The TRD Pro builds upon the Limited’s equipment list with extensive off-road features, including TRD-tuned FOX internal bypass shocks, a locking rear differential, an aluminum front skid plate, terrain management technology, and 18-inch forged-aluminum BBS wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires. This extra-tough trim’s interior details include unique SofTex upholstery with camouflage accents, second-row captain’s chairs, and wireless device charging, while the exterior shows off specialized LED exterior lighting, an integrated light bar, and a dual-outlet exhaust. A panoramic roof and power-extending towing mirrors are optional. The 1794 Edition has Platinum-level features and unique design elements such as American walnut cabin accents. Over and above the Platinum, the Capstone adds Shale Premium Textured leather upholstery, automatic power-extending running boards, a head-up display, unique American walnut cabin trim, sound-reducing windshield and front side glass, trim-exclusive design elements, and 22-inch alloy wheels. An upgrade to a rear air suspension is available.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All Sequoia trims have Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 installed. This suite combines a forward collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering correction, lane tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Additional standard safety amenities include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view monitor, trailer merge warning, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, and rear seat reminder. Every Sequoia has core safety equipment such as an array of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill start assist control, and a rearview monitor.

Infotainment and Connectivity

An 8-inch touchscreen on the SR5 anchors the Sequoia’s infotainment system, while the higher trims and the SR5 Premium Package move up to a 14-inch touchscreen. All trims get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to Toyota Connected Services with emergency support and cloud-based navigation. The SR5 and Limited have an eight-speaker audio setup, while the Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone receive a 14-speaker JBL system. The JBL system is optional on the SR5 and Limited.
