The 25th Anniversary Edition of the Highlander Hybrid shares the sophisticated foundation of the Highlander Limited, with thoughtful design enhancements for added distinction. Its exterior is highlighted by striking 20-inch wheels, distinctive side rockers, and silver-accented front and rear bumpers. This special edition will be made in two exterior colors: Heavy Metal (a Highlander first) and Wind Chill Pearl. Look for additional special touches, such as illuminated door sills, puddle lights, and a commemorative 25th Anniversary badge on the liftgate.
Inside, the seven-passenger 25th Anniversary Edition will give its occupants a refined cabin experience that blends luxury and advanced technology. The leather seats come in an exclusive Portobello color, with the front headrests both displaying the 25th Edition logo. Since it’s based on the Highlander Limited, this celebratory model will also get a host of advanced amenities, including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless smartphone connect, an 11-speaker JBL audio system, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
In line with Toyota’s Beyond Zero vision to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, the 25th Anniversary Edition will have the brand’s efficient hybrid powertrain. It combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors, producing a total system output of 243 horsepower. The hybrid unit is paired with an all-wheel drive system that enhances traction and stability in challenging driving conditions.
Beyond its smooth and responsive performance, the 25th Anniversary Edition will supply impressive capability with a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. Fuel efficiency will of course be one of the main hallmarks of this model, and Toyota estimates a commendable return of 35 mpg in combined city and highway driving.
Like every Highlander, the 25th Anniversary Edition will be equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite, which provides a full range of advanced driver-assistance features. This version will get a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert will also be standard.
