Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The 2025 GR Corolla is made in three trims: Core, Premium, and the freshly introduced Premium Plus. A turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine generating 300 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque joins the default six-speed manual transmission; Toyota also now offers an optional eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Toyota’s GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system is standard too; drivers can select from three settings for splitting front and rear torque distribution: Normal (60:40 front-to-rear), Track (30:70), and Gravel (50:50). This spirited dynamo also features front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials, a sport-tuned suspension, and a drive-mode selector with settings for Eco, Normal, Sport, and Custom.

Buyers in this segment may not weigh fuel efficiency as a heavy factor, but they should be satisfied to learn that the GR Corolla with the manual transmission achieves an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The automatic variant is rated for 19 mpg city/27 mpg highway.

Notable Features

The Core serves as the base trim and is generously arrayed with gray-stitched fabric upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, single-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch digital multi-information display, two USB-C charge ports, Smart Key proximity entry with push-button ignition, aluminum sport pedals, and a 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback with a center armrest and cupholders. Its exterior attributes include automatic-on/off LED headlights, daytime running lights, LED taillights, side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, a triple exhaust system with stainless-steel tips, and 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 high-performance summer tires.

The Premium enhances the experience with Brin Naub suede and synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Those seeking the ultimate GR Corolla experience should look to the newest member of the GR Corolla lineup, the Premium Plus. It adds a head-up display, red interior contrast stitching, a forged carbon-fiber roof, and a sub radiator for optimal engine cooling.

Driver-Assistance Technology

Every ‘25 GR Corolla is outfitted with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of advanced driver-assistance features. This comprehensive package bundles a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Every trim is also equipped with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The Premium and Premium Plus get front and rear parking sensors as well.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The infotainment system in the ‘25 GR Corolla is easy to operate and comes with all of today’s in-demand features. Each trim receives an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity. While the Core gets a more basic sound system with six speakers, the Premium and Premium Plus boost the audio experience with an eight-speaker JBL setup.

A 30-day trial subscription to Wi-Fi Connect is standard on all three trims, while the Premium and Premium Plus also get a one-year trial of Toyota’s Drive Connect service. This service, which features Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist, is also available to Core trim owners via subscription.
