Three trim packages are available for the ’24 Corolla Cross: L, LE, and XLE (Toyota also makes a hybrid version, which we cover in a separate overview). A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 169 hp forms the powertrain with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). As mentioned, front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. As officially estimated by the EPA, the FWD ’24 Corolla Cross returns 31 mpg around town and 33 mpg on the highway; with AWD, it achieves 29 city/31 highway. If yours is properly equipped with towing gear, it can pull up to 1,500 pounds.
The base L supplies budget-minded buyers with plenty of notable features, like fabric upholstery, heated side-view mirrors, auto-off LED headlights, manual air conditioning with second-row vents, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, intermittent windshield wipers, two USB-C ports, and 17-inch steel wheels with covers. The LE is enhanced with proximity keyless entry, single-zone automatic climate control, push-button ignition, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, wireless phone charging, two more USB-C ports, rear privacy glass, heated side-view mirrors with built-in turn-signal and blind-spot indicators, auto-on/off LED headlights, variable intermittent windshield wipers, a rear-window wiper, roof rails (black), and 17-inch silver alloy wheels. The optional LE Moonroof Package will furnish a moonroof and a cargo-area tonneau cover.
The XLE takes the Corolla Cross to upscale heights with leatherette upholstery (called SofTex by Toyota), heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, full LED exterior lighting with fog lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a cargo-area tonneau cover, a rear folding armrest, and 18-inch black-painted alloy wheels. With the optional Convenience Package, the XLE will receive a power liftgate and moonroof.
The 2024 Corolla Cross comes with the well-rounded Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 driver-assist suite, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, proactive driving assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist are standard in the LE and XLE; the XLE also gets front and rear parking sensors and reverse automatic braking. All trims receive a rearview camera, too, with the XLE’s upgraded with dynamic gridlines.
Staying connected and entertained in the Corolla Cross is effortless thanks to its advanced 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. With it, you’ll get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio, a free trial to Wi-Fi Connect, and access to Toyota connected services. Each trim also receives a basic six-speaker audio system, although the LE and XLE qualify for an optional upgrade to a nine-speaker JBL setup. Through a paid subscription, the Drive Connect service will supply Cloud Navigation, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist.
