If your vehicle is hard to start and/or has dim headlights when the engine is turned off, your battery is getting weak and should be replaced with a new Toyota TrueStart™ battery. Manufactured to Toyota's exacting standards for quality and performance, these batteries offer the right combination of cold cranking amps (CCA) and reserve capacity (RC) for reliable performance regardless of climate.
Toyota TrueStart™ batteries have been approved by Toyota engineers for years of trouble-free service–and no one knows your Toyota better than they do. Schedule your appointment at Balise Toyota of Warwick to have your battery serviced or replaced. We will also properly dispose of your old battery to conserve our environment!
Dependability is Toyota’s well-deserved middle name, but all vehicles have components that aren’t meant to last forever. One of those car parts with a finite lifetime is the battery. Batteries are important because, of course, without them you would be unable to start your vehicle. But even the best-made batteries can only be expected to last five years or less. This is especially true in places like New England, where we have a lot of cold days (those cold starts draw more power from a battery). Since a dead battery can strand you in an unsafe situation, it’s important to make sure that your battery is in good condition as well as to be able to tell when it’s on its way out. We’ll delve into both of those subjects below.
Symptoms of a Damaged or Dead Battery
There are several signs that can tip you off that your battery is not functioning at its best and may need servicing or replacement. The most obvious sign would be when the car fails to start, especially if none of the accessories work, either. Other signs include a swollen or misshapen battery case, a foreign smell coming from the battery, and corrosion or blue-green residue around the contact points. Your Toyota’s “check battery” light may also be illuminated on the instrument cluster. Even if you can get the vehicle started, there could still be evident battery damage if there are issues with its powered accessories, like slow-moving windows or weakened or flickering lights (interior or exterior).
Extending the Life of Your Battery
Although there’s no way to make your battery last forever, but there are ways to extend its life. Be sure to turn off all interior and exterior lights, as well as the climate-control fans and audio system, when you exit the vehicle. Also, regularly inspect and clean the battery (on your own or at your usual service center). And since driving a vehicle helps to keep the battery charged, don’t let it sit for days on end without driving it at least a few miles, but don’t let it idle for too long (because while driving around helps to charge a battery, idling actually drains it).
Toyota Battery Service
There is no one-size-fits-all battery for every vehicle, so it’s important that you get the correct one for your specific vehicle. The Toyota-trained service technicians at Balise Toyota of Warwick will provide the appropriate battery for your model and year. General repair shops that are not Toyota specialists may put in whatever battery fits your vehicle as opposed to the factory-recommended one that will perform best.
