2021 Toyota Venza for Sale in Warwick, RI
Although the 2021 Toyota Venza is an all-new midsized hybrid crossover, the name itself is a throwback: the original incarnation of the Venza was a gasoline-only model made from 2008 to 2015. This reborn Venza slips into the Toyota lineup between the RAV4 and Highlander, which both offer hybrid and gas-only powertrains. The strictly hybrid 2021 Venza is based on the Toyota Harrier, a vehicle that’s not available in the United States. With so many positives about this new gas-electric Venza, from its fuel economy and standard all-wheel drive to its spacious interior and multitude of standard features, Toyota clearly has another winner on its hands.
Mechanical Features and Fuel Economy
The 2021 Venza’s hybrid powertrain produces 219 total system horsepower and consists of a 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder gas-burning engine with three electric motors. The Venza accelerates smoothly with instant response thanks to its electric motor trio, which delivers a satisfying jolt of torque. This hybrid system also uses a newly engineered lithium-ion battery that helps boost overall performance. The Venza’s exceptional gas mileage is what most people are interested in hearing about. The LE trim is projected to achieve a combined 40 mpg, but it had not yet been rated by the EPA as of this writing.
As mentioned, electronic on-demand AWD is the Venza’s sole drivetrain, with no need to pay extra to add it. Rather than a traditional transfer case and driveshaft, this electronic AWD system uses a dedicated motor to turn the rear axle when the system detects that it’s necessary for optimal traction. The driver can choose from among three selectable drive modes (normal, eco, and sport) to fine-tune the driving experience according to the conditions (or even the mood) of the moment. Sport mode improves the responsiveness, while Eco mode maximizes fuel efficiency. Normal mode, as expected, is for regular, everyday operation.
Safety and Technology
The 2021 Venza is set to get a lot of attention for its cutting-edge communication and technology features. Some highlights of the available amenities include a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, a nine-speaker premium JBL sound system, a 7-inch multi-information display, a digital rearview mirror, and a 10-inch color head-up display that shows vehicle stats such as speed, engagement of the active safety functions, and hybrid system data. One of the most exciting new features is the never-before-seen Star Gaze panoramic fixed-glass roof with electrochromic technology that instantly changes the glass from transparent to frosted (opaque) to keep out intense glare while still keeping the cabin bright and open-feeling.
The Venza is built on the TNGA-K platform, which is designed for exceptional safety in the case of a collision. All 2021 Toyota Venza trims also come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver-assist technologies, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist.
