Toyota presents the high-style 2025 Crown in four trim packages: XLE, Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum. The first three have a 236 hp hybrid powertrain with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) with paddle shifters. The Platinum is upgraded with the more powerful Hybrid Max setup, which generates 340 hp and employs a conventional six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard across all trims, providing the heightened traction and stability typically associated with SUVs.
Fuel economy is a highlight of this gas-electric car. The XLE, Limited, and Nightshade are rated by the EPA to return 42 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. The Platinum concentrates more on power, dipping its ratings to 29 city/32 highway.
The XLE is an attractive base trim with a host of premium features such as proximity keyless entry, heated power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn-signal and blind-spot warning indicators, automatic bi-LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights and taillights, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels. Its interior highlights are leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped shift knob, wireless phone charging, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, five USB-C ports, and a 60/40-split rear seatback with a folding center armrest and cupholders.
The Limited adds position memory for the driver’s seat, a panoramic fixed-glass roof with a power sunshade, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and quad-LED projector headlights. The Nightshade gets the same equipment list, supplements by dark badging, black exterior accents, and 21-inch matte-black wheels. The Platinum sits at the top of the range with the most amenities, thanks to the addition of Digital Key, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a hands-free liftgate, a 10-inch head-up display, and 21-inch alloy wheels with black accents.
The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite is standard in the ‘25 Crown, providing a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, road sign assist, and proactive drive assist. All trims also receive a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear seat reminder, and safe exit alert. Buyers of the Limited and higher will get front and rear parking sensors and reverse automatic braking. The Platinum is fully loaded in this category, adding a panoramic view monitor, lane change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist (these features are optional for the Limited and Nightshade).
The ’25 Crown comes with an advanced 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. While the XLE has a simple six-speaker sound system, the Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum upgrade to a superior 11-speaker JBL unit. A 30-day trial to Wi-Fi Connect is included, too, as is a one-year trial to Drive Connect (Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist).
