The 2024 Sequoia lineup has something for every driver, with a choice of five trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. At the heart of all Sequoia SUVs is the i-FORCE MAX twin-turbo V6 hybrid powerplant, which makes 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. While most hybrid vehicles have their electric motor(s) located on the axle, Toyota put the Sequoia’s electric motor between the combustion engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission, which increases both power and fuel efficiency. This setup allows some configurations to tow as much as 9,520 pounds.
The TRD Pro comes standard with four-wheel drive (4WD), while the other trims have rear-wheel drive by default but are eligible for 4WD. Thanks to this efficient gas-electric powertrain, most trims achieve an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive. With the exception of the TRD Pro, 2WD is the standard drivetrain; although, 4WD is available on every trim.
The SR5 sets the standard with 18-inch silver-painted alloy wheels, satin-black roof rails, an “i-FORCE MAX” hood badge, heated power outside mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming, LED front lighting (headlights/fog lights/daytime running lights), a smart key system, a panoramic view monitor, a 12.3-inch digital meter with selectable gauge display screens, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, three-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof with sliding sunshade, an auto dimming rearview mirror, a multi-level adjustable cargo shelf system, a 12V auxiliary power outlet (front), and soft-touch surfaces across the instrument panel, center console, and doors.
The Limited gains SofTex-trimmed seating surfaces, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, driver’s-seat memory function, manual second and third-row sunshades, 120V/400W rear-seat and cargo-area AC power outlets, a bright chrome “SEQUOIA” rear door badge, “LIMITED” door badges, and larger 20-inch dark-gray-painted alloy wheels. The Platinum switches from bright chrome to gloss-black badging while also adding premium LED headlights and daytime running lights, LED taillights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, leather-trimmed seats with premium contrast stitching, 10-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, wireless smartphone charging, a digital display rearview mirror, a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, “PLATINUM” badging on the passenger dashboard, and ambient lighting throughout the doors and instrument panel.
The TRD Pro is a performance-based trim with an appearance to match, featuring 18-inch matte-black forged-aluminum BBS wheels with TRD center caps, all-terrain tires, an aluminum front skid plate, a black “TOYOTA” heritage grille with integrated LED light bar and amber marker lights, dual-tip exhaust, unique SofTex-trimmed seats with contrast stitching and technical camo inserts, a red-striped shift knob and steering wheel, a red push-to-start button, aluminum sport pedals, a power moonroof with sliding sunshade, “TOYOTA” heritage badging on the passenger dashboard, and all-weather floor mats. This trim’s exclusive mechanical elements include an off-road suspension with 2.5-inch Fox internal bypass coil-overs and rear remote reservoir shocks.
The Capstone has a luxurious cabin with dark American walnut woodgrain interior trim, metal speaker covers, “CAPSTONE” backlit on the passenger dashboard, semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats with premium contrast stitching, unique ambient lighting, and a 10-inch color head-up display. Outside the SUV are upgrades such as automatic power-extending running boards, 22-inch dark chrome alloy wheels, satin chrome-plated roof rails, and chrome accents across the mesh grille, mirror caps, door handles, window molding, and “CAPSTONE” badges.
A host of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (TSS 2.5) technologies come standard on all trims, including a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Plus, every ‘24 Sequoia has a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and trailer merge warning.
While the entry-level SR5 is equipped with an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen, the Limited and above get a 14-inch screen. Regardless of the trim level, all ‘24 Sequoias come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual Bluetooth phone connectivity, HomeLink, and SiriusXM (3-month Platinum Plan trial). Moreover, Toyota’s Connected Services provide subscriptions related to vehicle data and service appointments, Wi-Fi, remote capabilities, and safety features. The Platinum trades the standard 8-speaker stereo system for a premium JBL audio system with 14 speakers and an amplifier.
