The all-wheel-drive ‘24 RAV4 Prime can be had with the SE or XSE trim package. Their powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a 55.2 V sealed lithium-ion battery, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT). This plug-in hybrid system is capable of producing 302 net horsepower and 165 lb.-ft. of net torque. The standard 6.6 kW onboard charger ensures the RAV4 Prime will reach a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours. This model’s towing capacity is as high as 2,500 pounds.
The EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are the same for both trims: 40 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. Its fully electric driving range is approximately 42 miles, and it has a combined MPGe of 94 miles. Both trims also come outfitted with a drive-mode dial, which lets the driver choose from eight distinct settings: SPORT, Eco, NORMAL, EV, HV, AUTO EV/AV, CHARGE, and TRAIL.
The SE’s cabin has cloth upholstery with sporty red stitching and embossed inserts, heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen for audio and infotainment, a 7-inch multi-information display for instrumentation, a height-adjustable rear cargo area deck board with a tonneau cover, five USB ports, and two 12 V/120 W auxiliary power outlets (front/cargo area). This trim’s standard exterior equipment includes auto on/off LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome-tipped exhaust, heated power side mirrors with power-fold, low-profile roof rails, a height-adjustable power liftgate with jam protection, a smart key system, and touch-sensor lock/unlock feature on the front doors.
The XSE gets a two-tone exterior color, vertical LED accent lighting, red-painted shock absorbers, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a power moonroof. Inside, the cabin retains its red stitching and fabric inserts, but the cloth upholstery gets upgraded to SofTex. Its other upgrades include wireless smartphone charging, a 12.3-inch multi-information display, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and blue ambient lighting throughout the front footwells, center console cup holders, and in-dash shelves.
There’s no compromise when it comes to safety, as the SE and XSE both come with the full Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ (TSS 2.5+) suite of advanced driver aids, including dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, and automatic high beams. Every RAV4 Prime also has a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, trailer-sway control, and a vehicle proximity notification system.
Both trims have in-demand technology such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone, SiriusXM (3-month Platinum Plan trial), and access to Toyota connected services such as Safety Connect, Service Connect, Wi-Fi Connect, Drive Connect, and Remote Connect. While the SE has an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, the XSE’s expands to 10.5 inches. As the higher trim, it also adds HomeLink and an 11-speaker JBL premium audio system with a subwoofer and amplifier.
