The 2024 Prius lineup offers three trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with electronic on-demand all-wheel drive available. The gas-electric powertrain is made up of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, an electric motor (a second motor is installed on the rear axle in AWD versions), and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT).
The drivetrain determines both the total horsepower and the fuel economy ratings. A Prius with FWD will produce up to 194 net horsepower with the LE achieving an EPA-estimated 57 mpg city/56 mpg highway, while the XLE and Limited will return 52 mpg for both city and highway driving scenarios. AWD versions will generate up to 196 net horsepower with the LE returning an estimated 53 city/54 highway. The XLE and Limited come in with slightly lower fuel economy of 49 city/50 highway.
The LE’s exterior highlights are remote keyless entry, an active shutter grille, bi-LED projector low and high-beam headlights, auto on/off LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and brake lights, heated power outside mirrors with folding capability, and a smart key system on the driver’s door. Its cabin has fabric upholstery, a SofTex-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch LCD multi-information display, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, a cargo-area tonneau cover, and six USB charging ports (two front/two center console/two rear).
The XLE’s upgrades include SofTex upholstery, heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, 60/40-split fold-down rear seats with a center armrest, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 19-inch alloy wheels, HomeLink (a wireless system that allows drivers to control house features such as the garage door, gate opener, lights, and thermostat settings), and smart key functionality for the front passenger door and the tailgate. The luxurious Limited stands apart with heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker JBL premium audio system, a fixed-glass roof, digital key capability, and a power liftback. It’s also eligible for the Limited Premium Package (panoramic view monitor and Advanced Park) as well as a digital rearview mirror and heated rear seats as individual options.
Every ‘24 Prius is packed with premium safety technology through Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. Its features are full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, proactive driving assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. All trims also get a rear-seat reminder (so that children and pets aren’t inadvertently left behind), a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and a vehicle proximity notification system. Front and rear parking assist with automatic braking is added to the XLE and Limited. The Limited can be equipped with a panoramic view monitor and Advanced Park via the optional Limited Premium Package.
The LE gets the base infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone controls, and SiriusXM satellite radio with a 3-month Platinum Plan trial. Trial access to Toyota’s Connected Services is also standard. . The Limited moves up to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and adds a premium JBL audio system with 8 speakers and an amplifier.
