The ’24 Corolla Hybrid is a gas-electric compact sedan available in four trims: LE, SE, Nightshade, and XLE. Their efficient powertrain unites a 138-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive is available for all but the XLE; this system will add a third motor for the rear axle.
The main attraction of the ’24 Corolla Hybrid is its fuel economy. According to the EPA, the FWD LE and XLE achieve an eye-opening 53 mpg in the city and 46 mpg on the highway. When the LE is equipped with AWD, it returns 51 city/44 highway. The FWD SE and Nightshade, give their drivers 50 mpg city/43 mpg highway, and with AWD, those trims achieve fulfill 47 city/41 highway.
While the LE is characterized by more basic features, like manually adjustable seats with cloth upholstery, it also comes with some more advanced amenities, such as remote keyless entry, LED headlights, automatic climate control, and four USB-C ports. Along with a more dynamic overall look, the SE gets proximity keyless entry, sport seats with fabric inserts, heated side mirrors, push-button start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The return of the Nightshade trim brings with it a distinguishing blacked-out exterior and striking bronze wheels but otherwise mirrors the SE’s features. The XLE starts with the same features as the SE (minus the different aesthetics) and adds blind-spot warning indicators for the side mirrors, a moonroof, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, simulated-leather upholstery, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and a wireless phone charge pad.
In every 2024 Corolla Hybrid trim, the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite comes standard. This advanced bundle of driving aids consists of automatic high beams, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, proactive driving assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, road sign assist, and full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control. While blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is optional for the LE, SE, and Nightshade, it’s standard in the top-tier XLE.
All Corolla Hybrids have an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen that manages its multimedia and connectivity features. That list consists of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a sound system with a half-dozen speakers. The XLE is the sole trim eligible for an upgraded audio experience: it can be ordered with a first-rate nine-speaker JBL unit.
The LE and SE are eligible for their own Convenience and Premium packages to load them with sought-after options. The LE’s Convenience Package contains proximity keyless entry, push-button start, heated side mirrors with blind-spot indicators, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Premium Package, in addition to those items, features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and a moonroof.
The SE’s Convenience and Premium packages closely resemble the LE’s, but since the SE already has most of the features listed in the LE’s packages, its Convenience Package only provides heated side mirrors with blind-spot indicators and rear cross-traffic alert, while its Premium Package will add a wireless phone charger and a moonroof. The Nightshade trim can be ordered with the SE Convenience Package, but not the SE Premium Package.
