Trims and Powertrain

The four grades of the all-wheel-drive Corolla Cross Hybrid are the S, SE, Nightshade, and XSE. They all have the same powertrain, consisting of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with three electric motors and an electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT). This powerplant produces a combined 196 horsepower. The vehicle’s EPA-estimated fuel economy is 45 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. The Corolla Cross Hybrid is small but versatile, with a 21.5 cubic-foot cargo capacity behind the second row. It can pull up to 1,500 pounds if it’s properly equipped for towing.

Standard Features

Toyota gives the S trim proximity keyless entry, push-button start, fabric upholstery, single-zone automatic air conditioning, heated power side-view mirrors, LED headlights with auto on/off, two USB ports, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a 4.2-inch driver information display, intermittent windshield wipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The SE differs with its unique exterior accents and the addition of wireless device charging, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn indicators, intermittent front and rear wipers, roof rails, rear privacy glass, two more USB ports, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. The Nightshade gets its own trim-specific styling, including two-tone paint, roof-rail cross bars, and 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels. The SE and Nightshade are both eligible for the optional power moonroof.

The XSE expands on the SE’s list of standard equipment with SofTex (faux leather) upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, LED exterior lighting with LED fog lights, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a cargo area cover, a rear folding armrest, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The optional Convenience Package will upgrade the XSE with a power liftgate and power moonroof.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Every 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 installed. This array of advanced driver-assist technologies consists of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist are standard on all trims except the S. The XSE gets front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. Also standard are a full set of airbags, traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, hill start assist, Smart Stop Technology (which minimizes unintended acceleration), and a rearview monitor (the XSE’s version is enhanced with dynamic guidelines).

Infotainment and Connectivity

An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard fare for the 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid, with every trim getting Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and access to an AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Toyota connected services. Cloud Navigation is optional. A six-speaker audio system is standard across the lineup, but a nine-speaker JBL arrangement is an option for all but the base trim.
