Trims and Mechanical Overview

When you’re shopping for a 2024 Camry you have five trim levels to choose from: LE, SE, SE Nightshade, XLE, and XSE. Their gas-electric powerplant consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor; their combined output is 208 hp. An electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) completes the powertrain, and front-wheel drive is standard.

While the Camry Hybrid is an excellent car all around, most buyers are drawn to it for its efficiency. The official fuel economy estimates performed by the EPA show that the base trim (LE) achieves 51 mpg around town and 53 mpg on the highway, while the higher trims return 44 city/47 highway.

Standard and Available Features

The LE gets Smart Key proximity keyless entry, touch-sensor lock/unlock, bi-LED headlights with automatic on/off, LED daytime running lights, push-button ignition, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, two zones of automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, illuminated vanity mirrors, a USB-C charging port, and a 60/40-split fold-down rear seatbacks. The SE looks more sporty with a rear spoiler, aerodynamic side panels, black exterior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, SofTex-upholstery, and a twin-tipped exhaust with chrome ends. Its exterior mirrors are heated to melt wintertime frost and have built-in turn-signal indicators. The SE Nightshade is equipped similarly but has additional blacked-out features on its exterior, with contrasting bronze-finished wheels.

The XLE takes the standard equipment list of the LE and ramps it up with leather seats (heated in the front row), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power passenger’s seat, ambient interior lighting, wireless phone charging, a 7-inch multi-information display, full LED headlights, chrome exterior detailing, heated exterior mirrors with built-in turn-signal and blind-spot indicators, wood interior décor, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. The XSE blends the attributes of the SE and the XLE, with wheels finished in gloss-black and patterned-metal interior trim instead of wood.
Some of the aforementioned amenities are available on the lower trims as options, along with a heated steering wheel, a moonroof, and – for the XLE and XSE only – a 10-inch head-up display.

Driver-Assist Technology

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is installed on every 2024 Camry Hybrid. This important equipment grouping supplies full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are a factory option for the LE, SE, and SE Nightshade, but these technologies are standard on the XLE and XSE. Buyers of those two highest trims can also add parking sensors (front and rear), reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view monitor.

Staying Connected

The Camry Hybrid’s infotainment array has smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an audio system. The LE, SE, and SE Nightshade get a 7-inch touchscreen and six speakers, but there’s an option to upgrade to the 9-inch touchscreen that the XLE and XSE get standard. XLE and XSE buyers can in turn opt for a nine-speaker JBL audio system and navigation.
