Trims, Powertrain, and Charging

The bZ4X is split between two trim packages: XLE and Limited. There are two powertrains offered. The standard one is a single-speed electric motor with a 71.4 kWh battery pack and front-wheel drivetrain (FWD); it generates 201 horsepower and 196 lb.-ft. of torque. The fuel economy ratings are dependent on the trim level and drivetrain. The XLE FWD achieves an EPA-estimated 252 miles of range and 119 MPGe combined, while the Limited FWD provides 236 miles of range and an estimated 112 MPGe combined.

The second powertrain is a one-speed dual-motor system with a 72.8 kWh battery and all-wheel drive (AWD), which will deliver up to 214 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque. The XLE AWD will give drivers an EPA-estimated range of 228 miles and 104 MPGe combined, with the Limited AWD close behind with a 222-mile range and an estimated 102 MPGe combined.

The 2024 bZ4X requires an AC Level-1 (120 volts) charging time of approximately 50 hours when going from a low-battery light to 100 percent charged. In the same low-battery light to full charge scenario, AC Level-2 (240 volts) charging will take roughly 9.5 hours. DC fast charging – in ideal conditions – will take the crossover from a low-battery light to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes.

Standard Features

The XLE sits on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with a panoramic fixed-glass roof with a power sunshade, bi-LED projector headlights, LED taillights and brake lights, LED daytime running lights, a height-adjustable power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers with de-icing, heated power outside mirrors with puddle lights and folding feature, and a smart key system for remote keyless entry. The seating surfaces are trimmed in a fabric and synthetic leather combination with embossed polygonal-design seat inserts. The cabin’s other features include a 7-inch multi-information display, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, five USB ports (three front/two rear), a 12-volt/120-watt power outlet, a height-adjustable rear cargo area deck board, and a cargo-area tonneau cover.

The Limited increases to 20-inch machine-finished alloy wheels with gray accents and adds multi-LED projector headlights, chrome accents on the grille and window trim, SofTex upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, front and rear ambient floor lighting, HomeLink remote services, digital key capability, and a foot-activated hands-free liftgate.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Both the XLE and Limited come well-appointed with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite. The technologies within it are a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, proactive driving assist, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Every ‘24 bZ4X crossover is also equipped with the blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, a vehicle proximity notification system, front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, and safe exit assist. The Limited adds Advanced Park technology and a panoramic view monitor with 360-degree overhead views.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A 12.3-inch color touchscreen infotainment system graces every 2024 bZ4X. It’s used to manage wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio (3-month subscription), and trial access to Toyota connected services like Safety Connect, Service Connect, Wi-Fi Connect, Remote Connect, and Drive Connect. The Limited has an optional multimedia upgrade that trades the standard six-speaker stereo for a JBL premium audio system with nine speakers, subwoofer, and amplifier.
