Toyota presents the 2023 Venza in a quartet of trims: LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited. The hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors (two for the front axle and one for the rear), which combine to make 219 horsepower. Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive is standard, as is a continuously variable transmission. The EPA estimates the Venza’s fuel economy at 40 mpg around town and 37 mpg on the open road. Its cargo capacity reaches up to 55.1 cubic feet with the rear seat folded, or 28.8 cubic feet behind the second row.
The Venza LE comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free power liftgate, fabric-clad seats, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, rear privacy glass, heated power side mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels. LE drivers will appreciate the standard proximity keyless entry, eight-way power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped power tilt and telescopic steering column, push-button start, and 7-inch instrument display.
The XLE adds enhanced proximity keyless entry, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, LED fog lights, a driver’s position memory system, roof rails, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a four-way power front passenger seat, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The Nightshade Edition is similarly equipped, but with sporty touches like black exterior accents and 19-inch wheels finished in gloss black. The upgrades for the Limited include heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, perforated Softex-trimmed seats, a 12.3-inch driver information display, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. An innovative new feature from Toyota, the Star Gaze fixed-panel panoramic roof, is optional for the Limited. Its main attribute is glass that changes from clear to opaque and back again with the touch of a button.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ comes with every 2023 Toyota Venza. This suite of advanced driver aids includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard. Front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking come with all trims except the LE. The Limited gets a surround-view monitor. An eight-airbag occupant protection system, hill start assist control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), vehicle stability control, and traction control are among the other included safety features.
An 8-inch touchscreen defines the infotainment setup in the LE, while the XLE and higher trims get a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The other components found on all trims are smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), SiriusXM satellite radio, and a sound system: the LE, XLE, and Nightshade Edition get six speakers, while the Limited gets a nine-speaker JBL arrangement (this is optional for the XLE). All trims have access to Cloud Navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Toyota connected services (for emergency assistance, vehicle monitoring, and remote features).
