What’s New For 2023?

The Sequoia has been completely reimagined for model year 2023. It represents the sweet spot of performance and efficiency in balance, thanks to its gas-electric i-FORCE MAX twin-turbo V6, which produces a hearty 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. The ’23 Sequoia also gets a more rigid frame and a more comfortable ride quality thanks to its novel laser-welded construction, which helps reduce mass and weight where it’s not needed while increasing it in areas that do. The ’23 Sequoia also adopts a new rack-mounted electronic power steering system for improved comfort and responsiveness behind the wheel.

A multi-link rear suspension also becomes part of the mix to enhance ride quality and accommodate the available load-leveling ride height control air suspension and adaptive variable suspension for those who intend to do lots of towing. On that note, the new Sequoia can be ordered with the Tow Tech Package, which includes a trailer backup guide and straight path assist. Drive mode select is all-new this year as well, allowing the operator to adjust performance to specific road conditions. The standard drive mode settings are Eco, Normal, and Sport, but with the available load-leveling rear height control air suspension and adaptive variable suspension, the settings expand to include Comfort, Sport S+, and Custom. Special towing drive modes (Tow/Haul and Tow+) are provided as well.

The ’23 Sequoia is also now eligible for convenient power-folding, extending, and retracting tow mirrors, and its power sliding and folding third-row seat and adjustable cargo shelf are class leaders. For infotainment, the ’23 Sequoia boasts a brand-new standard 8-inch touchscreen and a newly available 14-inch touchscreen. These new interfaces have been improved with new sight, touch, and voice activation software.

Trims and Performance

The redesigned 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a three-row full-sized SUV made in SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone trim levels. They all have the aforementioned twin-turbo V6 hybrid powerplant (437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque) working with a 10-speed automatic transmission. While most trims come standard with rear-wheel drive, the TRD Pro gets standard four-wheel drive, which is optional for the rest. If towing is a big part of your lifestyle, you’ll be pleased to know that the redesigned Sequoia can tow up to 9,520 pounds. It’s fuel-efficient for its size, too, with RWD versions achieving an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. With 4WD, the fuel economy decreases slightly to 19 city/22 highway.
