Crown shoppers can choose from three trims: XLE, Limited, and Platinum. The XLE and Limited come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a dual-electric motor hybrid system that makes 236 horsepower. Greater output is available with the Platinum, which has a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder powerplant that produces 340 horsepower.
All-wheel-drive is standard across the lineup, with the XLE and Platinum using a six-speed automatic transmission, while the Platinum gets a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The EPA’s officially estimated fuel economy for the two lower trims is 42 mpg around town and 41 mpg on the open road. The powerful Crown Platinum is rated for 29 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
The XLE comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a 12.3-inch driver information display, LED exterior lighting, heated power side mirrors with a power-folding feature, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The seating situation in the XLE presents a blend of SofTex and fabric upholstery, heated eight-way power front seats, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat.
The Limited gets several upgrades, like a fixed-panel panoramic glass roof, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated rear seats, additional proximity keyless entry functionality, quad-LED headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Platinum adds an adaptive variable suspension, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is integrated into every 2023 Crown. These advanced driver aids include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, and adaptive cruise control. All trims also get proactive driving assist (additional braking during cornering or when near other objects), automatic high beams, road sign assist, safe exit assist, and a rear-seat reminder. The Limited and Platinum receive front and rear parking assist (including automatic braking), while a surround-view monitor is standard on the Platinum and available for the Limited.
Mirroring the large digital dashboard is a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen embedded with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM satellite radio. All trims also have multiple USB ports, wireless device charging, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota connected services (including cloud-based navigation, remote diagnostics, and emergency support). A six-speaker audio system is standard in the XLE, while the higher trims get an 11-speaker JBL system.
