2021 Toyota Prius for Sale in Warwick, RI
Some cars are simply icons, and the Toyota Prius certainly earns that label after two decades as the quintessential gas-electric vehicle in the United States. While it’s known for its stellar fuel economy, it also supplies sought-after technology for safety and connectivity, and is even offered with all-wheel drive on select trims. The 2021 edition now includes Android Auto for all trims but the Limited, and Toyota Safety Sense has been revised to include pedestrian and bicyclist detection and automatic high beams. Plus, to commemorate the milestone of the Prius’s 20th anniversary, Toyota has released a limited-run 2020 Edition with 17-inch blacked-out wheels, black exterior trim, and a choice of two colors: Supersonic Red and Wind Chill Pearl. Fittingly, only 2,020 units of the 2020 Edition will be sold.
Trims, Powertrain and Fuel Economy
The 2021 Toyota Prius is offered in five main trim levels – the L Eco, LE, XLE, Limited, and 2020 Edition – along with the two with all-wheel drive, the LE AWD-e and XLE AWD-e. Their gas-electric powertrain consists of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor that combine to produce 121 hp, plus an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT). The L Eco wins the efficiency prize with an EPA-estimated 58 mpg around town and 53 mpg on the highway. The LE and remaining trims achieve 54 city/50 highway. The two AWD trims get 51 city/47 highway.
Comfort and Convenience
The L Eco has plenty of noteworthy features, led by automatic LED headlights, heated power-folding side mirrors, automatic climate control, a 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback with a center armrest, a digital instrument cluster, keyless entry for the driver’s-side door, push-button start, a 12-volt power outlet, a USB media port, and two USB charge ports. The LE adds a rear wiper blade and a cargo area tonneau cover. The XLE gets rain-sensing wipers, a SofTex-trimmed steering wheel, SofTex-upholstered heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry for both the front doors and rear hatch, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a wireless smartphone charger. The limited-production 2020 Edition is distinguished by its black exterior trim and special 2020 Edition badges, key glove, and special floor mats. The Limited gets an adaptive front lighting system and a head-up display.
Safety and Technology
Every ’21 Prius trim comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 bundle of advanced driver-assist features. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, and road sign recognition. The LE and above get parking sensors with intelligent parking assist and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
The L Eco, LE, XLE, and 2020 Edition have everything they need for infotainment: a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming capability, a six-speaker audio system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Limited drops Android Auto, but it gains an 11.6-inch split-screen touch display, integrated navigation, a top-shelf 10-speaker JBL audio system, and advanced voice recognition.
