New Toyota 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid for Sale in Warwick, RI
In the early days of hybrids, these eco-friendly gas-electric vehicles had a distinct and rather futuristic look. They were widely thought of as a “tree-hugger’s” vehicle, chosen mainly by buyers so dedicated to lowering their carbon footprint that they didn’t mind giving up trunk space or even the entire back seat to accommodate the car’s large battery.
But times have changed, as the 2020 Avalon Hybrid illustrates. The great minds at Toyota have designed this full-sized gas-electric sedan with a smaller – yet still powerful – battery that is housed beneath the rear seat instead of in the trunk cavity. This attractive and roomy car also provides fantastic fuel economy at 44 mpg combined (43 mpg with the XSE and Limited trims), which is excellent for a full-sized sedan.
Also of note, Toyota has announced that it is extending warranty coverage on all of its hybrid vehicles’ batteries to 10 years/150,000 miles – a nice increase from the previous 8 years/100,000 miles. That’s great news for anyone who might have opted not to buy one previously because of worries about battery life and replacement cost.
Comfort and Convenience
The ’20 Avalon Hybrid is offered in three trim levels: XLE, XSE, and Limited. The XLE includes heated power side mirrors with indicators for the turn signals as well as for the blind-spot monitor, dual-zone automatic climate control, SofTex-trimmed heated front seats, an eight-way manually adjustable driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar support, 60/40-split folding rear seats, Toyota’s Smart Key System for the front doors and trunk, remote keyless entry, push-button start, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A sunroof is optional on the base trim, but the XSE gets it standard along with memory functions for the side mirrors (the driver’s side is also auto-dimming), heated and perforated Ultrasuede SofTex-trimmed seats, a tilt-and-telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel, and aluminum pedals. Rounding out the trim list is the Limited, which is loaded with premium leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front seats, memory functions for the driver’s seat, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and ambient interior lighting.
The 2020 Avalon Hybrid was awarded a five-star safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and while it has yet to be crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), last year’s model was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the organization, which is the highest accolade it gives. All trim levels have the Toyota Safety Sense P system of advanced driver aids. This provides a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and full-speed range-dynamic cruise control. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is also provided across the board, and intelligent clearance sonar with rear cross-traffic braking is optional for the Limited.
