2020 Toyota 4Runner SUV in Warwick RI
One thing’s for sure: the 2020 Toyota 4Runner is, as always, a true off-road vehicle. With its truck-based body-on-frame design, it’s confident and tough as it rumbles over rocks and dust. The TRD trims are especially made for leaving the asphalt, with their trail-ready fine tuning and specialized components. Back on pavement, this SUV is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
What’s New for 2020?
New for this model year is the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the standardization of Toyota Safety Sense-P for all trims (which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control), and a brand-new central control panel for entertainment and communication functions that’s highlighted by an 8-inch touchscreen.
The 2020 4Runner is available in eight trim levels: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Venture Special Edition, Limited, Nightshade Edition, and TRD Pro. The powertrain combo is a 4.0-liter 270 horsepower V6 with a five-speed automatic transmission. The TRD and Venture Special Edition models come with standard four-wheel drive, but the others have a choice between rear- or four-wheel drive.
Standard and Special Edition Trims and Equipment
The base SR5 includes heated power side mirrors, roof rails, a windshield wiper de-icer, a power driver’s seat, 40/20/40 split fold-flat second-row seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, remote keyless entry, an 8-inch touchscreen, an eight-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and satellite radio. Optional for this trim is a sliding rear cargo deck, 50/50 split-folding rear seats, and integrated navigation and HD radio.
The SR5 Premium has SofTex trimmed seats, Smart Key entry with push-button ignition, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and integrated navigation and HD radio. The other options mentioned for the base trim are available for this trim as well, as is a power sunroof. The Venture Special Edition comes with all of the previous features in addition to all-weather floor liners and unique styling elements. The sunroof remains optional.
With the Limited, the sunroof comes standard, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory functions, a power passenger’s seat, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, plus all the previously mentioned tech features, which the Nightshade Edition also receives in addition to some unique styling elements.
TRD Trims and Equipment
For the adrenaline seeker, the TRD Off-Road supplies the equipment from the SR5 as well as an overhead console with multi-terrain select, active traction control, a locking rear differential, crawl control switches, a TRD embroidered shift knob, TRD off-road floor mats, and HD radio. The navigation system is available as well as a kinetic dynamic suspension system to help you out on the most uneven terrain.
Up next is the TRD Off-Road Premium, which adds the SR5 Premium’s equipment, TRD red lettering for the driver and front passenger headrests, and the same trim-specific elements that the TRD Off-Road has. The kinetic dynamic suspension remains optional. Last up is the TRD Pro, which receives most of the equipment from the Limited on top of a special front grille (with TOYOTA instead of the logo), black TRD Pro external badging, matte black TRD alloy wheels, TRD-stamped aluminum front skid plates, and TRD shocks.
